QC Lab Harmonization: Drive Operational Excellence

Oftentimes, companies with multiple labs that are similar but not identical, look for ways to identify best-in-class approaches across sites. The goal is then to implement those practices in labs that are lagging in specific approaches, methods, or workflows, ultimately driving operational excellence by leveraging already existing internal strengths.

A key starting point is using Smart-QC (or other available data) to compare hands-on time (HOT) across labs for the same or similar techniques. This can quickly highlight labs where their touch time is lower than others, quickly creating an opportunity to dive deeper, understand the root causes, and replicate those efficiencies across sites.

This is a significant and often missed opportunity. Many organizations don’t realize that some of their most impactful improvements already exist internally, rather than needing to look externally for solutions. The first step is the most challenging one: defining which techniques/methods are truly comparable in order to begin this incredibly value-added analysis.
