The diagnostic study tool is an effective approach to identify opportunities for improvement in various areas that are drivers for operational excellence. A traditional detailed road map takes approximately four weeks to deliver and covers all major areas of the operation at any given site, i.e. manufacturing and packaging, quality systems, QC, and material planning. The approach includes interviews, data collection, observations, value stream mapping, and provides a road map for improvement, all aligned with the company CPM.
The following chart outlines some of the drivers for operational excellence that are being evaluated during a diagnostic study.
